The distinctive twin tails above and behind each wingtip are not wings- they don't lift, they actually push down, on purpose! What is this all about?

In this second century of flight, we believe that ordinary families should be able to quickly travel where they want, when they want, in comfort and safety, with economy surpassing the present automobile.

That's not how it is right now. Existing personal airplanes are extremely expensive, incredibly cramped, noisy gas guzzlers; most of them three decades old. On the other hand, they're powerful time machines; indispensable to modern business and a lot of fun to fly!

If airplanes are to re-connect with their potential customers- or their potential to society- they desperately need an update. Almost everything else in modern life has developed well beyond the elite-yet-archaic standard of personal air travel.

Synergy addresses the underlying problem.

Synergy aims to deliver all of the above - and much more - through innovative solutions that work in greater harmony with the invisible physics of flight.

What it means:

Synergy doesn't just look amazing, it truly is amazing; the first systematic application of six proven technologies for major drag reduction. These principles have never come together in a form simple enough to deliver their liberating potential... until now.

With twice the speed for a given horsepower, or triple the economy for a given speed, Synergy not only offers fast, fun transportation (in pressurized comfort, above the weather) but also far greater range and the ability to land at low speeds on local airfields. In its category (single engine, piston-driven aircraft) it is widely considered the most promising aircraft design yet seen.

Besides having three pilot locations, Synergy incorporates a push-button emergency landing system and a rocket-deployed whole-airframe parachute. Its award-winning design delivers much lower landing speeds than other fast aircraft, and excellent low-and-slow handling.

How does it work?

Synergy wing Synergy's form follows function in many powerful ways at once. For example, its stable-flying 'double box tail' shape is both a drag reduction breakthrough and a key to using other advanced design principles in a lighter, simpler, and more economical way. There's a lot more amazing technology behind this diesel-powered propfan than meets the eye, and our unveiling seems to have touched a nerve with aeronautical gurus, NASA scientists, and nervous flyers alike.

Is this a big deal? I can't tell why this is really all that different from other sleek designs.

Yes, it is. Synergy is a leap forward! All true progress strains against convention though, and there is a lot to discover here. Besides having an abundance of Natural Laminar Flow, Synergy uses its power to actually reduce drag even further through active flow control. Because we have increased the speed of our best L/D through simultaneous induced drag reduction, form drag reduction, and light weight, Synergy goes much faster, while carrying more payload, in a speed range that has eluded true efficiency so far.

Most people, even in aeronautics, are not experienced enough in the 'powered drag reduction' methods to successfully evaluate Synergy without flight test results, which is what we want to give them. For technical reasons, affordable CFD software and basic wind tunnels don't really cut it for preliminary design at this level... one way or another, a very substantial investment must be made to test 'whole systems together'. Team leader John McGinnis is a senior member of the AIAA with many years of studying flow control at Synergy's high Reynolds number. We have now built most of our prototype on less money than it takes to debate it in committee, and the result will be 'no baloney' in our future statements about specific performance.

During the last year, serious students of Synergy have begun to see how this 'whole picture' approach touches everything that we know about aerodynamics.

Synergy is not about looks, or streamlining, or even the fabulous benefits of its unique shape. It's about going beyond all that.

These inevitable changes to our applied science will someday affect everything that flies.

What we're doing:

We're building the real thing at full scale, using the lifetime craftsmanship of three generations of the McGinnis family, CNC machines, carbon fiber composites, volunteers from all over the world, and powerful engineering software.  This roomy five-seat prototype will join the amazing 25% scale prototype already flying.

What do we hope to accomplish?

To erase the artificial limits that make airplanes expensive, uncomfortable, and unwelcome. The practical, 5-seat Synergy prototype is designed to conclusively demonstrate the outstanding performance of this configuration, by way of professional flight testing at full scale, and to be producible in volume at low cost. We want to help solve the most pressing problem in transportation by assuring that thousands of these aircraft reach the market.

An excited and hopeful public already awaits. Since we 'lit the fuse' with our fully-electric-powered 25% scale model, enthusiasts all over the world want us to finish the real thing, now! Construction is well underway, but getting from 'a project in our garage' to a finished one in your hangar someday involves serious business development and millions of investment dollars... after we seed it properly.

While we've been bootstrapping our way toward completion at whatever pace that allows, we've also been quietly assembling the resources it will take to execute a very well-funded, comprehensive growth plan. We truly appreciate having this opportunity to build a solid business foundation for an aircraft that deserves it, and we welcome your interest.
